St Kilda

St Kilda is one of the famous suburbs of Melbourne, lying at about 6 km south of the central business district of the city of Melbourne. When a schooner named ‘Lady of St Kilda’ moored in this beach in 1841, one of the early settlers, Lieutenant James Lawrence named this area St Kilda. Several palatial mansions were built along the waterfront and the hills of St Kilda by the elite settlers of Melbourne. In the beginning of the twentieth century, St Kilda became to Melbourne like Coney Island to New York. After the Second World War, St Kilda became the red-light district for Melbourne. Since then, the bohemian atmosphere continued with aspiring musicians, artists, LGBT groups, and other subcultures like punks inhabiting this lovely St Kilda beach area. In recent years, there had been some changes in this area after trouble-making groups were pushed out of St Kilda, making it one of the most famous tourist attractions for Melbourne.

Historic Places In Australia’s Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast of Australia is located north of Brisbane and has a variety of coastal towns. Some of these towns include Coolum, Caloundra, Noosa and the Sunshine Hinterland area.

There are many historical attraction in the Sunshine Coast. To start with there is the scenic railway, Valley Rattler, that tour the Mary Valley in the Cooloola region. You can take a half morning, half day or full day tours on an old fashioned steam train called the Red Rocket Rail Motor. If you decide to take a full day tour you will travel to Dagun, Imbil and Kandanga. This tour allows passengers to disembark at these towns for touring or exploration. For a half day tour you will take a trip to Amamoor and Dagun to enjoy morning tea or a glass of wine. Half morning tour are two hours and travel between Gympie and Amamoor where you will get a chance to explore some of the arts and crafts fairs in the area.

Another great place to get an in depth detail of the areas history is at the Landsborough Museum in Maleny Street. This museum has exhibits from historical explorers, tools and equipment. There is also a library that has an extensive collection of historical area documents, photos and much more. This is a great place to spend the day and really get a full dose of all the history that this region has learn.

And last but not least is Sunshine Castle Bli Bli, a unique recreation of a Norman Castle in the Australian outback that dates back to 1971. Castle Bli Bli offers tourists so many things to do that it is hard to know where to start describing them and hard to know what to do first.

See London From The London Eye

The capital city of England and Britain, London, has a large selection of highly interesting tourist attractions, ranging from the incredibly old to the very young. The Merlin Entertainments London Eye (to give it its correct title), is more usually referred to as, just, the London Eye or,occasionally, the Millennium Wheel (due to the fact that it was built as part of the Millennium celebrations). The Merlin Entertainments London Eye was opened officially by the then U.K. Prime Minister, Tony Blair, on the evening of December 31 however, alarmingly there was a number of technical safety problems which led to it not being opened to the public until March 2000. When first erected it was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel having a height of four hundred and forty three feet.

The gigantic wheel can be found on the South Bank in Jubilee Gardens peering down upon the Houses of Parliament below. From within one of the 32 capsules towering over London you can see a large number of the many London landmarks, the earlier mentioned Houses of Parliament, Hampton Court Palace, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s are just some, what a great (and unique) way in which to see nearly all of London and, more than likely, one of the reasons it is one of the most popular visitor attraction in London.

The first flight on the London Eye is at 10 am but the ticket office opens at 9.30 am. The Eye closes at 9.30 pm between August and July, eight at night between October and April and at 9 ‘o clock at night for the remainder of the year.
