The main attraction to Formentera island is its tranquility and the fact it is completely unspoiled. It has a population of about seven thousand. It is the closest place to paradise on earth. Quite simply gorgeous. Many people have long know about the secret hideaway that is Formentera and some would argue a few too many people know about it’s pleasures in August a month when I would recommend that you stay away from this small Island. June and September and some of the best months to visit.
Formentera is only a stone throw away from Ibiza, but the white beaches and the turquoise sea give you this relaxed magic Caribbean feeling. It’s like being in another world. A world where you can get away from the madness that can sometimes consume Ibiza.
Formentera is mostly flat and small in size and its never far between towns and beaches. The best way to get around the island is by moped. There’s no better way to travel down it’s dusty lanes. The best way to get there is by chartering a boat and then you arrive at Formenteras best bits – it’s white sandy beaches that stretch for miles.
Formentera is well known for its fresh seafood with grilled fish and local fish stews being perennial favorites. Although don’t be fooled a lot of sea food is actually imported from Scotland! The sea food restaurants on the beach can be very expensive.
If you ever go to Ibiza then you must make the effort and take a trip to this beautiful island. It may be the smallest and most southerly island of the Balearic Islands group. but it is by far the finest. I’d stay clear of the Island in August as it get too busy. The ideal time is between May and Oct.
and finally I’m not biased but one of the best ways to see the island is by private boat (not necessarily mine). There are many different kinds available for Charter in Ibiza and all at reasonable prices. Just ask your local friendly search engine.
